Tarangire National Park is the sixth largest national park in Tanzania after Ruaha, Serengeti, Mikumi, Katavi and Mkomazi. The national park is located in Manyara Region. The name of the park originates from the Tarangire river that crosses through the park, being the only source of water for wild animals during dry seasons. During the dry season thousands of animals migrate to the Tarangire National Park from Manyara National Park.

It lies a little distance to the south east of Lake Manyara and covers an area of approximately 2,850 square kilometers(1,100 square miles.) The landscape and vegetation is incredibly diverse with a mix that is not found anywhere else in the northern safari circuit. The hilly landscape is dotted with vast numbers of Baobab trees, dense bush and high grasse

Though it seemed to be a “forgotten paradise” you will enjoy the impressive beauty of huge Boabab trees and old Acacia trees
The park’s main feature is the Tarangire River which flows like a live wire from the South to the North of the in to Lake Burungi.A drive through the parks offers you magnificent Landscape : Boabab Trees Grassland,Beautiful Acacia parkland,Doum Palms and black cotton Grassland which forms huge swamp during the rainy season in April and May.

The drive along the offers good big-game contact since most of mammals have to come down to the river to drink.Especially by October/November ,numerous Zebras and wild-beast have arrived in great numbers and offers one of the impressive game viewing opportunities

A drive along the river offers ‘close contact’ impression of wildlife and the African and the African bush, while the tracks on top of the rocky ridges show a very different face of Tarangire;the tranquility of the vast bush space of Africa. But there is one more ‘JEWEL’ which makes a picture even more complete; The ‘MBUGA” The big swamp in the south of the Park.

We had an awesome time in this very nice Park. You can see many Elephants along the rivers.
It’s a great Park to start your Safari time because this Park is very close to Arusha.
